I broke this resource into Narrative and Expository transitions and left a space for students to add their own. At the end of the file, I shared a great mini-lesson idea to help you teach these crazy abstract things!
Graphic Organizers for Personal Narratives. I use a few different graphic organizers that have made a world of difference to my young writers. Struggling Writers:Transition Words The website Flocabulary is a great way to bring music (RAP) into the classroom. This particular song and video shows students how to organize and improve the flow of their ideas by using transition words. The video goes beyond the basic transition words and brings in some higher level, more sophisticated transition words for students to use to help their writing have a smooth, natural flow to it. The song itself is about video games which students love.
