Original caption: France: He Lost His Friend. This small French boy is carrying flowers to the grave of his friend who was killed when he joined the Allies in the fight for France. The youth carries his friend's gun, which was blasted from his hand by a shell. Throughout France, the young people have rallied to arms to help in the liberation of their homeland.
