Based on a Bengali play, " En Din Ratre", Jagte Raho sheds light on the duplicity of corruption infested and morally defunct society. Raj Kapoor has very few dialogues in the film, save for long monologue at the end about the hypocrisy of the amoral society. However the film ends on optimistic notes, that there is certainly light at the end of the dark tunnel. The bhajan 'Jaago Mohan Pyaare' ushers in a new day and a sense of hope, taking forward the symbolism of light and darkness in the film.
