The chosen strategy for transportation were developed to ensure that everyone who is going to watch and take part of the 2016 Games have at their disposal a secured, rapid and liable transit system. Both who is going to watch and work at the games will have access to free transportation to the places where the events will happen. The investments made will result in an efficient transit system with a high-capacity. It will include trains, subways and three completed new BRT (Bus Rapid Transit).

The Olympic Park covers an area of 1.18 million square metres, where 16 Olympic events will be held (basketball, track cycling, artistic gymnastics, trampolining gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, judo, Greco-Roman wrestling, wrestling, synchronised swimming, swimming, water polo, diving, taekwondo, fencing and tennis), as well as nine Paralympic sports (wheelchair basketball, boccia, cycling, 5-a-side football, goalball, judo, swimming, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis).

Images show advances made at the Barra Olympic Park, Radical Park in Deodoro and Olympic Villa The Rio de Janeiro City Hall has released an updated time-lapse video of construction works at the Olympic Park, Radical Park (at the Deodoro Sport Complex) and Olympic Villa. The images show how construction works have progressed in the three facilities being built for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The infrastructure needed for the fulfillment of the Games is huge. It will sum up 100,000 people directly involved on the organization of the games, including 70,000 voluntaries. It is expected 10,500 athletes from 205 different nations worldwide, beside the thousands of media professional that will forecast the game to all over the world.
