The dining room is what connects the living room to the kitchen, so we kept with the same paint colors in order to make the transition really natural. We also added wainscoting to the walls to make the space feel set apart and to achieve a really traditional and classic style. We also added a third arch leading into the hallway that matched the existing arches.

This was maybe the most unique space in this whole house. Previously the living and dining rooms were two separate spaces, but by bringing down a wall, building this peninsula island, framing the entry with wood beams, and using two different flooring materials, we were able to conserve the feeling of two different rooms without closing them off.
