Welcome holy spirit are in your presence fill us with your live inside of me welcome holy spirit we are in your presence fill us with your power live inside of me you're my living dry and fun comforter and counselor control welcome holy spirit we are in your presence fill us with your live inside One more time. You're my living water. Never drying sound comfort Counselor take complete control welcome holy spirit in your fill us with your live inside of me live inside of me inside of me live inside of me live inside of me Yeah. That is what Jesus intended for the Holy Spirit to live inside of every believer. Hence, we have Pentecost that we will celebrate on this Sunday. As we commemorate the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit, in Jerusalem on 120 people who were gathered together for worship and fellow Worship and the word of the lord tells us in the book of Acts chapter two. Let me read for you verses one through eight. When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven, there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind. And it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues. As a fire. Appeared among them And a tongue rested on each of them. And all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the spirit gave them ability. Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. And at this sound of the at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered. Because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each Amazed and astonished, they asked, are not all of these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear each of us in our own native language? Look at verse twelve. All were amazed and perplexed and said to one another, what does this mean? But others sneered and said, they are filled with new wine But Peter standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them. Men of Judah, and all who live in Jerusalem. Let this be known to you. And listen to what I say. Indeed, these are not drunk as you suppose. For it is only 9 o'clock in the morning. No this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel In the last days, it will be, god declares, that I will pour out of my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. And your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream, dreams. Even upon my slaves, both men and women. In those days, I will pour out my spirit. And they shall prophesy. We celebrate that on this coming Sunday. Of course, I've been celebrating for a while now. As you know, if you've been with me and worship over the past few Fridays, celebrating what came on that day. What happened? It caused the birth of the church. When Jesus wasn't just with them, but he sent the Holy Spirit to be in so that every believer, everyone who would receive him would have power to become sons of god. Born not of flesh, not of blood or the will of man but born of the spirit wonderful baptism of the Holy Spirit. Yeah Let's see. Holy Spirit, reign now now oh comforter and friend how we need your touch again Holy Spirit let your power fall let your voice be heard. Come and quench our hearts as we stand on your word holy spirit rest Holy Spirit reign down comforter and friend how we need your touch spirit let your power fall let your voice be heard Come and change our hearts as we stand on your word. Holy Spirit. One more time. Oh comforter and how we again Holy spirit reign Let your power fall. Let your voice be heard. Come and change our hearts as we stand on your word. Holy Spirit reindeer let your power fall would your voice be heard come and change our as we stay on your rain down It's a beautiful song my almond slaughter written many years ago. It's a wonderful time for refilling And for refreshing of the Holy Spirit. You know for many people they have never pursued the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Somehow we have settled for salvation alone. For just being a believer. But allow me to read for you out of the book of Acts chapter nineteen verses one through seven. Where the apostle Paul runs into some people who were believers. And it reads while Apollos was in Corinth, Paul passed through the interior regions and came to Ephesus. Where he found some disciples. He said to them, did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers? They were replied, no. We have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit. Then, he said, into what then were you baptized? They answered into John's baptism. Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance. Telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him. That is in Jesus. On hearing this. They were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus And when Paul laid his hands on them the Holy Spirit came upon them. And they spoke in tongues. And prophesied. And all together, there were about 12 of them. I read that for you this evening. To make sure that we all know that there is more to this than just that confession of faith. But that Jesus told his disciples to go to Jerusalem and remain there until they were endowed with power and power being the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I say and read all of that For all of us who have only received Christ as savior but have not yet received him as Lord. And have not yet been filled with the Holy Spirit. And if you have doubts about whether or not you've been filled with the Holy Spirit, you probably haven't. And so I want to wet your appetite for spending time asking God. To baptize you with the Holy Spirit. The kind of baptism they received on the day of Pentecost. The kind of baptism they received at Azusa Street in 19oh 6. The kind of baptism that folk used to get on their knees and call on the name of Jesus until they received the kind of baptism that would allow you to speak in other tongues. The kind of baptism where you know that you have been from the inside and that there is something now dwelling in you. And gives you power and strength. Gives you wisdom, leads, guides, directs your life. Ask God for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Ask him for it. Jesus said he will not withhold it from any of his children who ask. Any more than a father would withhold something from his child that he knows that his child needs. Ask him for it. The church would be better for it if more folk were baptized with the Holy Spirit. If we had a whole lot less workers and a whole lot more folk who are filled with the spirit and can allow the Holy Ghost to work through them. Not just busy work. But powerful and effective work. Kinda work that goes along with living right. Mix it easy. Makes it easier for you to say no to the enemy. Easier for you to be able to stand up against your own flesh when it wants to rise up and do what it wants to do. Holy Spirit can give you what you need. Ask God to baptize you. This is a good weekend for would be a really good weekend for it. Yeah. Yeah. Spirit and rain on me Holy Spirit reign spirit rain on me take my mind take my heart take my soul Holy Spirit rain on me Holy Spirit take my mind take my heart take my soul every part, holy spirit rain on me holy spirit reign on on me take my mind take my soul Holy Spirit on me take my heart my soul holy spirit take my mind take my heart take my soul and repart holy spirit on me Yeah. Reign on me. Reign on me. Reign on me. Well, I encourage you to read the word of the lord and go back through it and allow the lord to speak to your heart and I pray that the Lord will give you a hunger and a thirst. God pray that you will not be satisfied. Until you get all that Jesus intended for you to have. Every bit of it. That is what I pray for you. I want to ask you faith deliverance Christian Center. To help me celebrate the life of brother Joe Ebert who passed very suddenly. Last week. He was the last of the four original members of Faith Deliverance Christian Center from nineteen eighty-six. We thank God for his many contributions Through so many ministries. To the founding of this church. Helping to establish establish a solid foundation to the teaching that he did. The inspiration, the mentoring, all that he did Brother Joseph Ebron was a wonderful man of god I'm just grateful to the Lord for having the privilege and the opportunity to know him. Much less pastor him. Please be in prayer for his family Um as they continue to work through this very unexpected event. Pray for them. Pray for them. And pray for the family of faith deliverance Christian Center because everybody who has come to faith met brother Joe there. So pray for us. Um as we mourn his passing but we celebrate his home going. Do that me. I greatly appreciate it. Um but I do appreciate the lord for this opportunity to spend this quality time with all of you. And I pray that will take seriously what I shared with you out of the scripture and that as last week I asked us to evaluate our walk with the Lord as believers in Jesus Christ. This week you will evaluate your infilling of the Holy Spirit. And for those of us who know we have it. It's a good time to get filled all over again. There is nothing in the scripture that says that you can only be baptized once. It is a wonderful thing to be overshadowed all over again with the Holy Spirit. It the renewing and the refreshing. It is needed. And in this day and time where there's so much stuff going on. The drains on you and pulls on you. And when we're around so many people who are in need of so many things. It behooves all of us who are believers in Jesus Christ. To make certain that we are always ready. Always empowered. With the spirit of God so that we can minister to people who need ministry. So ask the Lord to fill you. Not just for your benefits so you can feel good and speak in tongues. And and just shout. But be filled with the spirit. So that you can be used by God for his work. Ask God to fill you. I do pray that the grace of God will cover you. I pray that the favor of the Lord will go before you. I pray the joy of the Lord will be your strength and that the love of God will wrap you, will comfort you, and will hold you. And I pray as always that the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will keep your heart fixed. And will keep your mind made up through Jesus Christ. God bless you everybody. Have a wonderful rest of your Friday.
