TRAINED SILK BROCADE and VELVET BUSTLE DRESS, 1880s. One-piece sapphire blue velvet with collar, cuff and front skirt panel of grey and mauve striped silk with cream floral brocade, trimmed with double blue satin ruffle, pierced buttons with cut steels.
Bustle gown with ball and dinner bodices, by Charles Frederick Worth, circa 1885. Silk brocade, silk satin, and cotton lace. The fabric has stalks of grain and large blossoms, common motifs in Worth's designs. Acquired by the Phoenix Art Museum Collection in 2007 for the exhibit "After Dark: 100 Years of the Evening Dress."
