Christening set, made by George W. Adams, 1864, at the V & A Museum. A christening present from the godfather of the baby, whose name, "Jane Dunlop Best," is inscribed on the pieces. The size of the pieces and the subject of the decorative motifs do not seem very appropriate for children, but the set was intended as a future heirloom rather than for a very young child's use.
