The style of roof design on the Igokochi Niwakoya, Japanese garden house, is known as Manekiyane (招き屋根). This typical Japanese architectural element can be seen on many buildings all throughout the country, both traditional and modern. It basically consists of two overlapping sections of the roof. A longer higher part and a shorter lower part. This makes the space in between the two roof sections perfect for windows or lattice work. We are very excited to show you the first constructed Nagasu Tea House by Yokoso Japanese Gardens. The Japanese style wooden tea house is part of a Japanese garden we designed and constructed in the past, which also includes a Koshikake and Sutoreiji storage shed. For all of these woodwork projects we primarily used Western Red Cedar, a very durable type of wood. The Nagasu Tea House is completely insulated so it can be warm, dry and cozy in all weather conditions and during all the seasons.
