We're Going on a Sound Hunt...

At this time of year it can sometimes be hard to think of outdoor activities, but the great thing about this Sound Hunt is that it can be enjoyed in all weathers around your neighbourhood, & you don't need any equipment. Before we set out on our sound hunt we shared this rhyme (based on We're Going on a Bear Hunt) Minnie set off on her hunt armed with 2 sound sticks (wooden spoons) to help track down some outdoor sounds. She led the hunt & experimented with the sound sticks on walls, bricks…

From lines to letters...the co-construction of our Alphabet Wall!

Keeping in mind the many ways that children learn (Hundred Languages of Children), I placed plasticine, crayons and paper, as well as wire (large twist ties), to allow for exploration using various channels…

Adventures at home with Mum: Baby Sound Discovery Tray

Baby Sound Discovery Tray

Miss Cherub (nearly 6 months old - Jeez that's gone quick) wants to grab at everything these days. She isn't shy to express herself when something gets taken away from her either; call it spoilt, call it a temper but boy are we in for it. She is almost sitting completely unassisted, still a little wobbly & growing up all too fast. Won't be long and she'll be following me wherever I go. Each evening I throw a discovery tray together of things she is allowed to explore with some assistance. It…
