Gold Linen Crocheted Pearl Necklace with Immaculate Conception Bronze Medal and Tassel

This exclusive necklace is hand crocheted by my sweet mother out of gold colored linen with 10mm Baroque pearls. It is secured by threading the hand tied linen tassel through the crown of thorns and looped around. The Spanish antique replica medal depicting the Immaculate Conception is rectangular in shape with Art Deco details and a luxurious matte gold finish. A very special necklace. Each antique medal in my Crown of Grace collection was lovingly searched for according to it's age, shape, subject matter, and rarity. Many of the medals used during my hand replicating process are over a century old. I reproduce each piece by making a mold, hand pressing small batch bronze clay into the mold, drying, and kiln firing at 1420 degrees in a double carbon process. Each medal is hand wire brushed to give them a matte gold base and polished on the high relief areas to give them a luxurious Baroque light gold finish. The Immaculate Conception Feast Day: December 8 The Immaculate Conception is the belief that the Virgin Mary was free of original sin from the moment of her conception. It is one of the four Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church. Debated by medieval theologians, it was not defined as a dogma until 1854, by Pope Pius IX in the papal bull Ineffabilis Deus. While the Immaculate Conception asserts Mary's freedom from original sin, the Council of Trent, held between 1545 and 1563, had previously affirmed her freedom from personal sin. The Immaculate Conception became a popular subject in literature, but its abstract nature meant it was late in appearing as a subject in works of art. The iconography of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception shows Mary standing, with arms outstretched or hands clasped in prayer. The feast day of the Immaculate Conception is December 8.
