The Day I Lost My Voice

Published on May 27, 2022
Words by Jen Poetry avatar link
It was a silent call from my heart. Whispered outwards to the universe. Hoping one day, it would let me find you. And take me away from all that chose to hurt me. It is true, you don’t need someone to save you. You save yourself. And I’ve never asked to be saved. I have saved myself enough times. But we aren’t machines. We are born with hearts that want to love and be loved. And there always comes a day, no matter how old you are, where you wish to find a heart that wishes to protect you, just as fiercely as you would protect them.
