I love to experiment with colour and rarely do I stick to a single colour palette, even when painting in a series. I do love using a bright pink, red or orange colour for an underpainting though. I feel like it makes the entire painting sing when bits of brightness shine through the top layers. I also like the painterly quality of a brightly coloured underpainting and I feel like it makes a painting more interesting to look at.
