October 25, 1983: Operation Urgent Fury begins on the Caribbean island nation of Grenada. US Forces enter the island by force after a military coup and at the request of the OAS. Additionally, with the presence of Soviets and Cubans on the island it was even more critical to secure and return to the United States, US Citizens, mostly students, in Grenada attending medical school.
