This chair was based on a medieval chair at York Minster. The Long Gallery at Adare Manor was furnished with medieval-style furnishings, either antique or reproduction, by Lord and Lady Dunraven in 1834. They acquired the 17th-century Flemish carved oak chairs. Victoria and Albert Museum
