Built an archery target for the kids so they could practice in the back yard. Used two 12 foot long 2x4's and one sheet of 24x48 inch plywood, cut in half and layered. Tacked four layers of scrap cardboard to the target face. Construction took about an hour and cost less than $20. And when the cardboard gets shredded simply pull it off and tack some more on.
