On a gorgeous spring morning in 1974, the Rio Grande Zephyr train #18 climbs Spanish Fork Canyon along it's namesake river approaching the small town of Thistle, Utah. The right of way at this point would be buried in mud in 1983 when a natural landslide blocked the D right of way, US Highway 6 and the Spanish Fork River. The railroad and highway would be relocated along the hillsides at right and a new spillway allowed the river to flow under the landslide.
