Hosta Niagara Falls - The Hosta Farm
A Garden in the Shade
This homeowner has mixed different colored heuchera and hostas in a way that I haven t quite seen before. Though there isn't that much in flower, it is still colorful.
'Embroidery' is a hosta sport found in Japan. As Schmid describes it, "This cultivar has a deeply crimped (stitched) margin of a somewhat deeper green, than the flat green color of the center of the leaf." The center is whitish in spring, but rapidly turns green soon after leafing out. It is a medium-sized plant. It was sold for over $500 for years by one or two vendors in the 1990's. Van Wade says that the parents are unknown.
