Plague masks - In the 17th and 18th centuries, plague doctors had to wear these creepy looking masks to avoid breathing in putrid air, which they believed would cause infection. The beaks of these masks were filled with perfume, such as mint, cloves, camphor and rose.

Martin Joe Laurello, originally Martin Emmerling, was born in Germany around 1886. He was a sideshow performer who could turn his head a full 180 degrees. He performed with groups such as Ripley's Believe it or Not, Ringling Brothers, and Barnum & Bailey. He moved to America in 1921. He also trained dogs to do things such as acrobatics.

Laurello, only man w/ revolving head. appeared in sam wagner's freak show on coney island, reputedly, he could rotate his head 180 degrees.
