The people of the ancient Americas believed his rays could damage people, crops, and water sources. Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli played a key role in the Aztec creation myth and was 12th of the 13 Lords of the Day in the Aztec calendar.

El Tajin is located near the coast of eastern Mexico and was an important Mesoamerican center which flourished between 900-1100 CE. The most famous monument at El Tajin is the splendid Early Classic temple known as the Pyramid of the Niches.
