The Broken Column House, Chambourcy, Forêt de Marly, France François Racine de Monville, circa 1780. It was built to look like one of the broken columns from an enormous Temple of Giants. In the 1930’s, the Broken Column House was abandoned and became a ruin of a ruin. The French passed a law allowing them to seize and restore architecturally significant abandoned ruins. So the fake ruin that had become a real ruin was restored to a real fake ruin.
