1st Israeli M-346.Type named ‘Lavi’-or Lion in Israel.Israel Air Force inaugurated new Flight Training Center for M-346 Lavi at Hatzerim Air Force Base,prime contractor Elbit Systems reported Monday 29 September.Elbit developed the Ground Based Training System center together with Alenia Aermacchi amongst others, following selection by TOR – Advanced Flight Training,responsible for operating trainer.Alenia Aermacchi delivered &st ‘real’ M-346 advanced jet trainers to IAF earlier this year.

Alenia Aermacchi advanced jet trainer on delivery flight to Israel. Will be known as "Lavi" (lion in Hebrew), in Israeli service. Thirty ordered and remaining 29 due for delivery by end Will replace ageing Douglas Skyhawk trainers.
