Ancho, NM-Coming of the railroad and discovery of gypsum in 1901 led to the beginning of Ancho. Clay was soon discovered and the Ancho Brick Plant started brick making. The plant grew to 16 kilns. Town schoolhouse pictured above. The company supplied several tons of bricks to help rebuild San Francisco after the famous 1906 earthquake. The plant ceased production in 1921 and the town slowly died.
