Los Glaciares National Park (Argentina) is an area of exceptional natural beauty, with rugged, towering mountains and numerous glacial lakes.

In 1895, as the country struggled to emerge from one of its worst economic depressions, Atlanta held a large exposition at Piedmont Park: the great Cotton States and International Exposition. Planning began in December 1893. In addition to several large exhibit halls erected by the exposition company, there were smaller structures and exhibits sponsored by other states as well as a few Central and South American countries.

Paramaribo. Paramaribo is the capital city of Suriname on the banks of the Suriname River. It’s known for ornate wooden Dutch colonial buildings in its center. On the banks of the river, the 17th-century Fort Zeelandia houses the Surinaams Museum, with exhibits on the region's history. Nearby, the wood-and-stone Presidential Palace faces Independence Square and is backed by the Garden of Palms, a public park. (V)
