China Finished Building Its Alien-Hunting Telescope

The Arecibo Observatory, Puerto Rico The largest radio telescope in the world. It has appeared in two Hollywood films in the 90s: Contact and a James Bond film, GoldenEye. It was built in the early 60s. Cornell University managed it until 2011. It is actually controlled by the National Science Foundation along with other scientific organizations.
