Classic #Olympics moments: Kerri Strug takes the vault on a sprained ankle and takes the gold

Coach Bela Karolyi carries an injured yet triumphant Kerri Strug of the US after she received her gold medal in the Womens Team Gymnastics competition at the 1996 Olympic Games.

I've played a lot of sports myself & watched a lot more in my 67 years, but I don't believe I've ever seen a more inspiring moment of individual courage than Keri Strug's performance in the 1986 Olympics: after destroying her ankle in a previous, failed vault-attempt, she completed the twisting Yurchenko (perhaps the most difficult move in women's gymnastics) and received a score of 9.712 (out of a possible 10.000), leading the U.S. team to its first-ever gold medal in women's gymnastics.

The Magnificent Seven-1996 Olympic gymnasts- I LOVED these gymnasts! I will never forget Kerri Strug's 1st vault! I knew she was hurt and was so scared she would fall on the 2nd vault. When she landed and held up that foot, but finished with her 3 turns and arms up it was an AMAZING moment!-My FAVORITE olympic moment!
