Carlo Bergonzi (1924 – 2014) was an Italian operatic tenor. Although he performed & recorded some bel canto & verismo roles, he was above all associated with the operas of Giuseppe Verdi, including a large number of the composer's lesser known works that he helped revive. Additionally, he sang more than 40 other roles throughout his career. Bergonzi is considered one of the 20th century’s most distinguished operatic tenors.

Placido Domingo is a Spanish opera singer who was born in Madrid in 1941.  He is surely one of the operatic greats having a wide vocal range - primarily tenor but he has sung baritone also.   His first tenor role was as Alfredo in La Traviata in 1960. He has performed at all the great opera houses including New York, La Scala and Covent Garden.

Realizing that he needed experience, Domingo spent three years out of the spotlight working with the Hebrew National Opera in Israel. By not yet he knew roles in 45 operas.
