In 2012, a Corinthian style helmet was found in Haifa Bay, directly of the coast of Israel. Dating at 2,600 years old, the helmet is thought to have belonged to a mercenary commander from Greece, that was taking part in a series of wars under the Pharaoh, Necho II.

Covered with gold leaf (now somewhat corroded), this bronze helmet was discovered in the waters of Haifa Bay, in Israel. The helmet would have been worn by a wealthy Greek mercenary leader.
