Jacky Ickx | 1967 German GP | His first Grand Prix at the Nürburgring in 1967, driving a Matra F2 MS5 car. Clocking in the 3rd-fastest qualifying time of 8:14" on the German Nürburgring in his 1600 cc MS5 F2, which was allowed to enter alongside the 3000 cc F1 cars. In the race, he failed to finish due to a broken suspension. Within four laps of the 28 km circuit he was up to fifth place and overtaken twelve F1 cars. Ickx had made a strong impression on the F1 teams and secured his future.

Jacky Ickx contends for the lead of a Formula 1 race in a Formula 2 Matra litre car. German GP, Nürburgring, Never before and never since! He was forced to retire after 12 laps with broken front suspension, but set fastest lap of the runners.

When Enzo Ferrari turned down Henry Ford's offer to buy Ferrari a war ensued that some call the Ford - Ferrari Wars. Ford dumped millions of dollars into a racing program to beat Ferrari and they eventually did it in spectacular fashion four times at Le Mans (66,67,68,69). In 1967 at Le Mans the #1 Ford Mark IV was driven to victory by the unlikely duo of A.J. Foyt and Dan Gurney.
