Eric, left too early… Eric Dolphy, jazz

Eric Dolphy by Guy Le Querrec

American jazz musician Eric DOLPHY (bass clarinet, alto saxophone) playing with the Charlie MINGUS Quintet.

Eric Dolphy seemed to be in constant action in 1960-61. Besides his own albums, he played non-stop with Charles Mingus, John Coltrane and an astonishing number of other jazz luminaries. He even managed a short Scandinavian trip, soon followed by a European tour with Coltrane, although we didn't hear those concerts until later. Clearly, the jazz world, or at least the cutting edge part of it, knew that a major new voice had arrived.

Diary Of A Radical Conformist

Jazzman: Eric Dolphy.

Eric Allan Dolphy was a jazz musician who played alto saxophone, flute and bass clarinet. Oh Yea ERIC!
