I used a vinyl 4 x 4 and cut it into different size sections with my chop saw. I drilled holes about 5 inches up from the bottom on all four sides for drainage. Then I buried them in the ground up to the drainage holes, put in some rocks to fill them about half way. I then added a layer of newspaper before filling them the rest of the way with potting soil and adding the plants. Love them!
