The ‘Collier’ cucumber was donated to SSE by Graham and Margaret Collier of Nashville, TN. This variety was acquired by Margaret’s parents in the early 1900s from gypsies who were traveling near the Mayne’s farm in Huntington, IN. It was a favorite of the family because of its especially thin and tender skin. After almost being lost to a drought in the 1970s, Graham was motivated to send seed of this beloved variety to SSE.
