Himmler was born middle-class in Munich, Germany on October 7, 1900. Being extremely patriotic, he wanted to enlist in World War 1 during high school. He secretly was attending an officer academy, but stopped abruptly when Germany surrendered. Under the Treaty of Versailles, he could not be in the military and instead went to the Technical Institute at Munich to study agriculture.
