Savory Cheese Cookies - great with wine! 4 c. all purpose flour 1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, grated 1 tsp. salt 3 sticks butter, melted 2 tsp. cayenne pepper Melt butter. Mix in other ingredients. Roll in small balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten with a spatula or a fork, until about the size of a fifty cent piece. Bake about 12 minutes at 375 degrees until brown. Do not over cook.
Thyme, Black Pepper, and Parmesan Crackers: Buttery herb- and cheese-flecked savory shortbread is a solid standalone option but is even better when paired with salami, cheese, and a bottle of crisp white wine.
Honey-brushed Gorgonzola Shortbread: Once baked, the shortbread tastes like a mild Gorgonzola or a very old and sharp cheddar with a slightly sweet top. They are delicious (and addictive) on their own but would also work as a base for an appetizer or along with a cheese plate. http://www.clockworklemon.com/2012/06/honey-brushed-gorgonzola-shortbread.html
