Huh! | New system tracks and zaps flies with lasers to change behaviors. | Believe it or not I dreamed this up 20 years ago (using lasers on flies, gnats, mosquitoes, etc.) but for a slightly different purpose: to train them away from food and people. Huh. Looks like the tracking mechanism still needs a lot of work if it is to operate in open environments with more than just one target.
