Stipa gigantea combos... Low-growing plants are ideal companions. The strong lavender-purples of Salvia 'Mainacht' and Verbena rigida work exceptionally well, as does the steel-blue Eryngium x tripartitum. A good evergreen companion is the mid-sized Euphorbia 'Portuguese Velvet', with soft, dark blue-green foliage and acid-green flowers. For late flower colour try the sun-loving Nerine bowdenii, which has delicate pink flowers.
