Le Rif d'antan
Moroccan Riffian boy’s ''Tamzourt'' hairstyle
Riffian boy with the Tamzourt, a traditional Amazigh hairstyle common throughout North-west Africa until the colonial era. The city of Imzouren was named after this hairstyle, also known as Tajettocht/Tagettoyt. Similarities exist between the Tamazight of the Maghreb and the Tamahu/Tjehennu of ancient Libya, as seen in the fresco from the tomb of the artisan Inherkau, and these 18th dynasty carvings from the tomb of Horemheb in Saqqara. The lock is worn further back on the head of Libyan boys.
