Sew Many Ways...
Hi everyone. I was going through some of my mom's sewing supplies the other day looking for thread. I found an old wooden spool that still had the 15 cent label on it. I thought it was so cute, I had to make something with it. I remembered a post I did 5 years ago with a spool of thread and an eye bolt. I made a necklace to hold your spool of thread while hand sewing. This time I just wanted to use the spool for a decorative key chain…nice memory of my mom. Come in to see how and other ideas…

antique paper trade card Coats & Clark sewing thread advertising, toy cow to make w/ spool
Original old paper advertising 'toy' from Coats & Clarks thread... this is a two piece cow, with a front and back designed to be fastened to either end of a wooden spool. We've included a vintage thread spool here, but have only propped everything together for the photo, not glued anything together. The paper cow stands about 2 3/4" tall, and shows a little age and wear, as does the thread.
