Maple Pie - a Canuck twist on Sugar Pie to celebrate Canada Day!
Maple Pie - a close cousin to butter tarts, sugar pie and even a southern pecan pie. This rich maple flavoured filling in a flakey butter cry pastry is perfect for Canada Day or even for Thanksgiving or at the Holidays.
Maple Brown Sugar Cream Pie w/ Brown Sugar Meringue
New favorite Pie!! My old favorite would probably be the Sugar Cream Pie also known as a Hoosier Pie. Growing up we I ate a lot of Mrs. Wicks Sugar Cream Pie when I would spend summers with my grandparents. Instead of whipping up my childhood favorite for Thanksgiving I am doing a New England Twist on the Sugar Cream Pie and going with maple instead. Maple Brown Sugar Cream Pie w/ Brown Sugar Meringue Topping Ingredients for pie: 1 uncooked single pie shell (I make my own butter crust... you…
How to Make Snow Candy
On our way home from Maine this past summer we listened to Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Both of the children really, really enjoyed the book and I've been waiting for snow to come our way so that we could try our hand at making Snow Candy like they make in the book. This recipe is a simple shortbread, but instead of plain white sugar, the shortbread is sweetened with maple sugar. (Maple sugar, not maple syrup!) Simple, but tasty - and not overly sweet. Maple Sugar Shortbread 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold 1/2 cup maple sugar 2 cups all-purpose…
Pure Maple Syrup Jerky
Love sweet jerky? Than this maple syrup jerky is your new favorite jerky recipe!!! I have never made jerky with maple syrup, but I am glad I gave it a go. It tastes fantastic!
Maple Syrup Pie
Is it too ridiculous to confess that the only reason why I made this sort-of-Canadian pie is because my daughter's school is Canadian ! lol...I know it sounds crazy but I have to shyly admit that it's true..:) This pie doesn't look as attractive as its taste but that's not the issue for me...My only problem is a difficulty to cut it into piece without breaking a crust ! It's best eaten when it's chilled.. The recipe could be found here.
