Blanket Octopus ~ Found in the open seas of the Mediterranean and the N & S Atlantic Ocean. The "blanket" is a defense mechanism, as they do not have ink to ward off predators, unfurling its blanket makes it look significantly larger and intimidating. It is immune to the poison of the Portuguese Man o' War known for its deadly venom, ripping off it's tentacles it uses them for self defense. ~ Mik's Pics "Sea Life lV" board
