You can actually do this without painting chalkboard paint on the wall. I did something similar and just wrote on the painted wall (the color needs to be darker than the chalk color so it will show up of course)...and I loved it. this way you can just wipe with a damp cloth and redesign to fit your taste.

Chalkboard paint with a layer of magnetic paint underneath. Frames were painted and affixed to the wall with velcro (so they can be removed but little hands can't knock them off). Love that you can change the entire look of the wall with a little bit of colored chalk and create your own revolving art gallery! Or great idea for a wall in the kitchen :) one day when I have my own house
