Eucalyptus tetraptera - Four-winged Mallee
The left flower has JUST shed its large brown pyamidal bud cap, revealing stamens still unfurled. The right-hand flower is a bit older, giving the stamens time to catch up with the stigma in the center of the "pink donut". This plant really never makes a tree, mostly just a messy straggle of branches in a big pile - with these stunning flowers. Cal Poly Campus, San Luis Obispo, CA 8Sept14 BushPhoto Myrtaceae
