A Series - of nonsense that is
Hi ya! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and all you moms out there got to celebrate your day in a way that brought you big smiles! Today I wanted to share something fun I have been working on. It all started back in January when I got the notion that I would like to create a "series" of work for myself. Yes, my passion is teaching and creating designs to share, but sometimes one just needs to create for the sake of creating. It was cold, dreary and there was lots of snow when I started. This…
Rug Hooked Footstool - Sew the side seams • Cindi Gay Rug Hooking
This method of sewing the seams is the easiest ever! I will always be grateful to Kim Nixon for showing me this technique years ago. It made me fearless about sewing seams for any three dimensional hooking such as footstools, purses or dolls. To sew the first side seam, choose a corner and fold the […]
Rug of the Day-January 13th
Today's rug of the day is Goat Hill, a design adapted from Lori Brechlin Folk Art by Spruce Ridge Studios (c) 2009 Even though this rug is not completed, I could not resist showing it. This rug was being hooked by Maureen Lowrey. She was my student at the Star of Texas rug camp in Fredericksburg this past September. Maureen has a good color sense and brought some fabulous wool to work with. First of all, I love the turquoise house! And I especially love the soft coral pomegranates at the…
wooley thoughts
How can this many months have gone by without my venturing back to blogland to visit? August was a good month, we had a long 10 day vacation to the No Ga. and Smokey Mountains in Tenn with my folks. Mom had a birthday we celebrated on the trip. **edited to say that my photos are all at the bottom of the post. The photo of my dear husband was taken on his birthday in November. It was a terribly hot summer in the deep south. September was pretty normal, nothing too exciting with me. I just…
We're back...
We're back from our annual trek to the North Woods... A wonderful time of peace and quiet... Hiking and sights... Fishing and quality family time... In a cozy little cabin on the water. ***Priceless*** "Botanical Wool Runner" design by Maggie Bonanomi I found time for stitching and a few finishes including this class kit from 2004, recently unearthed. (I thought I might finish it as a bell pull, but think I like it as a dining room table runner for now...) And we did a bit of antiquing and…

Almost ready for Buckeystown
I am down to the wire---my final day before I fly to Baltimore. Chilly here this morning---went for my 3.1 mile run---two weeks until my next race---the KC Marathon---no long run for me this year---do plan to do the 5K and am hoping for my best time ever. This was my very first race 5 years ago---my time was somewhere between 35 and 36 minutes...last year my time was 30:07---my goal this year is around 28 minutes because my neighbor Kelly is running with me again---she makes me a faster…

FIRST FINISHES FOR 2013 AND RUG CAMP
Hi there ! Remember me ??? Well I tried to make a post before rug camp but for some reason the option to load JPG photos was just not there. very frustrating to have my post all complete and not be able to upload my photos. Oh well - that somewhat explains my absence from blogland for almost a month. January is almost over and what a busy month it was for me. I had two business trips this month then it was off to Off the Ocean rug camp for 5 days of rug hooking bliss with my mom and friends…
