Legolas - I think this captures him well, particularly with the precise detail in some areas, and the blurred hiddenness of others. Legolas was just like that, appearing clear and open, but there were things he kept to himself. I agree.
While I do agree that in Tolkien's works the women are quality over quantity, the men are numerous and many of them are also well fleshed out. The issue is that there is still a lack of representation that male characters just don't have.
