One Lucky Day

It's that time again.....Time to start the New Year fresh with a fun new calendar. I usually get halfway through January before I figure out that I need a calendar, so this is planning ahead for me. I have found a few fun ones that I thought I would pass along. This calendar I actually saw in Anthropologie a couple of years ago. I still love how a simple block of wood is the stand for the calendar cards and a pencil. I think great inspiration if you are so inclined to make your own. Stitched…

Friday Freebie Ribbon spools

Not so long ago I purchased a whole collection of colours of crinkled seam binding. And yes, I know it's easy to do dye them oneself and I have indeed done it in the past, but so often it's a question of time right?Anyway, I wanted some pretty ribbon spools to wind the ribbon on, so while I was making them I thought, maybe some others would appreciate them as well. So here goes. And here you can see some of my ribbons wound onto the spools. I printed them on slightly textured card stock…

Pretty Purple Tags Brought Me Back

Creative Chemistry 101 has brought the fun back to my creativity. Specifically, Mr. Tim Holtz and his simple technique of Blend and Flick have changed the way I look at stamping and creating MY art. It isn't that blending ink is new to me. In fact, I have been using techniques to make backgrounds for over 10 years. It isn't even that these techniques were completely new to me. As Ranger's Creative Director, Tim not only designs the products but he spends a lot of his time educating customers…

Partial Tag Tuck Spots

Hi everyone. I am always looking for new ideas to create embellies for junk journals and art journal pages, especially ones that use items up from my stash. While browsing on Pinterest last week, I found one of those and I loved it so much the way it was, that I barely changed anything. It was originally on a blog belonging to Dorota Kopec, a very talented art journaller and artist. She is from Poland and her blog is certainly worth a good long look as she has wonderful ideas and creations…

Escape from Winter

I haven't been around much this month, can't believe it's almost May! I took a much needed break and joined my husband while he made client calls on Vancouver Island. I really needed to get away from this terrible winter weather! I wasn't sorry to say goodbye to the snow as we flew over the mountains. Hope you don't mind, but I thought I'd show a few photos for those of you who have never been on the island. It is so nice to know that just a short 1 1/2 hour flight and you are surrounded by…

DIY Rustic Boho Twig Arrow Ornaments » Alice Wingerden

A few weeks ago, I shared a tutorial for my rustic twig arrow ornaments over at Yellow Bliss Road. They ended up being quite a hit and were even featured on Country Living’s website recently! Today, I am reposting them here in case you might have missed it. These ornaments were the beginning inspiration for our Christmas tree this year. I hope you enjoy this tutorial! Here is the original post: Today I have another easy and creative DIY craft, especially if you love arrows and are looking to…

Tree of life unalome suncatcher | Etsy

Tree of life and unalome suncatchers. I have made these small Tree of life suncatchers in different colors for you to choose. The Tree of Life is a popular and universal symbol that represents multiple different things across various cultures and religions. The Tree of Life symbol is commonly depicted as a large tree with roots that spread inward to the ground, and branches that spread outward to the sky. This represents the interconnected nature of all things in the universe; an eternal…

How to Make Spun Cotton Mushrooms

Here's a great way of making whimsical antique-style spun cotton mushrooms with loops for hanging up as ornaments. These would look adorable on a woodland Christmas tree, and make super unique gifts. This hand-building technique takes some practice. The first few mushrooms are bound to look very "organic," but I think the individuality of each piece is something to be celebrated. You can make them look very natural, or very fantastical in their shapes and colors. The materials are simple and…
