Red-crested Cardinal 1 - Maui, Hawaii (Explored)
I took this photo of a Red-crested Cardinal at nearly the same spot I found the previously posted Java Sparrow. Indeed, this stretch of fence along a path to the beach seems to be a favourite gathering place for many of the local birds. As I understand, the Red-crested Cardinals were originally imported from Brazil many years ago. Today, they can be found in Maui's lower elevations and near resorts. The photo was taken in March 2011, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.
