El Ateneo Grand Splendid, Buenos Aires, Argentina: An old movie theater converted into an amazing bookstore. You guys, it's a BOOKSTORE in a THEATER. And apparently you can have coffee on the stage and read up in the balconies.

One of my dreams is to travel across South America. Argentina and Buenos Aires seem like perfection.

This is the bookstore El Ateneo in Buenos Aires and believe it or not this was actually a real theatre and then a movie theatre before it became a bookshop. We at World Book Night especially like the mix of modern design with original building features, as it illustrates just how important all books are, old and new.

Right at the west end of Av. Quintana, this couple has set up a dance area with top hats placed in front to collect donations. The speaker is playing tango music, but there's another person's speaker nearby playing the classical music of Carlos Gardel.
