1966 Topps All Star Cards : National League Infield

The 1965 N.L. All Star infield was cornered by 2 of my all-time favorite players. Ernie Banks and Dick Allen. The 2 guys in the middle aren't to shabby either. 1966 Topps Ernie Banks All Star After 8 straight All Star seasons, Mr. Cub was left off the All Star squad in 1963 and 64. In 1965 he returned to the starting line up and went 2 for 4 at the plate. 1966 Topps Pete Rose All Star Pete Rose went hitless in his first of 17 career All Star games. 1966 Topps Maury Wills All Star In 1965…

1965 Topps Stolen Base Leaders

In 1965 Topps still didn't have Maury Wills under contract so unfortunately this card could not have been made. It's a shame because this would have been the first with Lou Brock breathing down Wills' neck. Wills still wore the crown with 53 stolen bases in 1964. Lou Brock's 43 stolen bases was enough to edge out Wills' teammate Willie Davis who stole 42. Brock started the season in Chicago before being traded to the Cardinals. I decided to feature him hatless and attribute him to both…

Some cards that were never made | The Left Field Pavilion Blog

I ran into a site that made some 1963 cards and some other cards that were never made. He did a nice job with them so I thought I'd share. That also inspired me to do a few 1963's also and touch up the one he made of Gilliam. Link…

maury wills gets his due and you could too

i spent a couple of hours this weekend finishing up a project that has been sitting idle for a couple of years. i, like many dodger fans who collect baseball cards, have long been disgusted that this 1967 topps card is the first official wills card in the topps catalog. it's a high number, and my copy is creased and worn since that's the only way i was able to purchase one. will's second card is from the 1968 set, and is much easier to find. sadly, he's still a pirate. he's still wearing a…

1962 Topp Maury Wills All Star MVP

Going Horizontal Most collectors are aware of the story of the missing Maury Wills Topps cards, Topps was told he would never make it, so didn't sign him to a contract. He ended up winning the MVP in 1962 but wouldn't appear on a Topps card until 1967. The reason I created this particular Maury Wills card is not to right some wrong in the 1962 set but as a way to create horizontal, action versions of Topps cards in sets that didn't have them previously. I decided to use the All Star Game…
