Cut three layers of burlap into the shape of a football (I use a piece of pre-cut posterboard as a "go by"). Decorate the first layer (with the second layer still underneath to prevent much seep though of the paint - although it's still a good idea to have a plastic bag or other protection for your painting area). After your paint dries, staple the first two layers of burlap to the third layer....leaving a small hole to allow for filling with plastic bags for a pillowing effect - then finish stapling. Use floral wire for the hangers and you can add a big bow if you like.

Cut three layers for burlap in the shape of a football (I used a cut poster board as a pattern). Keep the top two layers together as you paint to help with the paint seep through (I still kept a protective plastic over on my painting surface also.). After the paint has dried, staple the top two layers to the third layer....keeping a small hole so that you can fill with old plastic grocery sacks for a pillowing effect....then continue stapling.
