The bas-relief depicts a very popular game in the Roman arenas: the fighting between “secutores” and “retiarii”. The gladiators’ names are reported near the carved figures: [Αγορ]άκιτος , Agorakitos, the “retiarius”, and Μάρισκος, Mariskos, the “secutor”. Under the tribune where Agorakitos is standing, an inscription ἀπελύθη ἓξω λούδου, reminds us that the “retiarius” was made free from the gladiatorial games; probably, his freeing was a consequence of an extraordinary…
